BEST BABY SHOWER GAMES FOR EVERYONE

The key to a successful baby shower game is to know your crowd. You’ve got cute baby shower cupcakes and the diaper cake has been made, now how do you keep the party upbeat and engaging? Choose baby shower games that induce (pun intended!) laughter and keep the crowd on their feet.

What if your guests don’t really know each other and you want to avoid awkward silences? Use icebreaker baby shower games so your guests get to know one another. Or, perhaps your group is more interested in baby shower craft activities over the traditional baby shower game. Whether you are hosting a baby shower for women, men or couples, these refreshing baby shower games will make your next baby shower a hit!

15 REFRESHING BABY SHOWER GAMES

1. TINKLE IN THE POTTY
This baby shower game looks hilarious! Guests first put an inflated balloon under their shirt and then put a ping pong ball between their knees. The idea is to waddle to a pot or jar and drop the ping pong ball into it. If you have ever been pregnant and had to use the restroom in the middle of the night, you get the idea behind this game!

5 Things You Need to Know About Cord Blood Before You Deliver Your Baby Sponsored by CBR®

This is a sponsored post on behalf of Cord Blood Registry.

Never has there been a time in my life when I was as full of questions as I was when I was pregnant. Even on my second go-round, I was still the lady showing up to my doctor’s appointment with a page of scribbled questions.

Pregnancy is such a whirlwind of discovery and planning! Even if this isn’t your first time heading into the delivery room—sure, you’re coming in more informed, probably a lot less nervous, and with a far lighter hospital bag—but there are still so many things to learn and know before you deliver.

Every parent wants a safe delivery and healthy baby, and during both of my pregnancies I was laser-focused on these goals. But I’ve learned that there’s a really AMAZING opportunity right after birth that could make a difference in a family’s future.

Have you heard of CBR®?

Think of it like starting a savings account for your child at birth, only in this case it’s a HEALTH savings account that may potentially benefit someone in your immediate family for future health treatments.

Here are five things you need to know about cord blood banking so you can talk to your doctor and decide if this option is right for your family.

Cord Blood Contains Stem Cells
The umbilical cord, which has nourished your baby for nine months, also contains powerful stem cells. These stem cells can be found in the small amount of blood that is in the umbilical cord after you give birth. By saving and banking that cord blood, you can save those stem cells for potential use in future medical treatments.

Stem Cells Are Superheroes
And newborn stem cells are extra special! These stem cells have the ability to become the different cells of the blood and immune system that one day could potentially act like a person’s own repair kit! Today this type of stem cell is used in transplant medicine in the treatment of over 80 conditions, including leukemia, lymphoma, and some immune disorders.

This is a BIG Moment
The delivery room is a magical time of “firsts” with your baby, and in some cases “onlys.” This is a big moment, and only in the delivery room can your baby’s newborn cord blood be retrieved and saved. There’s no risk or pain for you or your baby. And it can be done for both vaginal and c-section births.

BYOK
BYOK stands for “Bring your own kit.” If you decide that CBR is right for your family, you’ll be packing your cord blood kit in your hospital bag right alongside all of the other carefully chosen items to welcome your little one into the world. You’ll just need to register with CBR beforehand so they can send you a kit. As with any part of your birth plan, you’ll want to talk to your doctor before you arrive in the delivery room so you can discuss the plan together.

You Get Back to Snuggling, CBR Takes Care of the Rest
The folks at the CBR will keep your precious cargo safe, and you’ll stay informed. You’ll be notified when your baby’s stem cells are safe and sound and how to retrieve them in the future if a need arises.

Want to know more? Visit www.cordblood.com to get more details and information about how cord blood and stem cells are being used.

Nursing Favorites: Boppy Best Latch Breastfeeding Pillow

When I was pregnant with my daughter eight years ago, my first purchase at the baby store was a Boppy Pillow. It had a pink slip cover, and all anyone could tell me was how much I was going to use that pillow. And they were right, I used that pillow all the time.

Here’s the truth. Breastfeeding is full of baby bonding and baby nutrition magic. But it also does one magical number on your back. Nursing a regular size baby can kill your back without additional support, but I tend to create babies who look like they’re ready to try out for the rugby team. Let’s just say I need all of the breastfeeding support that I can get.

The original Boppy pillow was created 28 years ago. Think how many backs they’ve saved! My oldest daughter’s pillow took us through her and my middle son, but when Boppy generously offered me a test model of their Boppy Best Latch Breastfeeding Pillow to try for my new little guy, I jumped on the opportunity. Being number three shouldn’t necessarily mean that all of your equipment has been covered in spit-up by your older siblings.

Nursing Favorites: Boppy Best Latch Breastfeeding Pillow

With number three, I haven’t exactly been nursing in the peaceful rocking chair tucked into the corner of his perfectly orderly nursery. He spends a lot of time being nursed in a car while we wait for swim practice to end or on a floor while I sit criss-cross applesauce and make complimentary statements about Lego creations. Bottom line is, my back has not been feeling good.

But then my new Boppy® Best Latch™ Breastfeeding Pillow showed up, and I no longer feel like a crumpled piece of paper. My back feels better, I’m not hunching over, and my future rugby player looks much more comfortable while he dines directly from the tap.

Nursing Favorites: Boppy Best Latch Breastfeeding Pillow

Nursing Favorites: Boppy Best Latch Breastfeeding Pillow

The Boppy pillow was designed by a Lactation Consultant specifically for nursing moms. It comes with two surfaces to choose from. The firm side offers a solid platform and is covered with the the softest fabric imaginable. It also includes a contoured foam edge that helps turn the baby for an effective latch. The softer fiberfill side is the perfect snuggly surface as your baby starts to grow. The most thrilling news of all is that the pillow is washable.

Remove the foam insert and belt and toss the pillow into the wash. Which I essentially do every single day. We’re volcanic over here.

Want to see?

The pillow retails for $45 on Amazon, at BuyBuyBaby.com, Target.com, and Babies”R”Us.com. My back is worth a lot more than $45, and yours is too. While Boppy generously provided the pillow for my family to try, they’re also giving one away to a lucky reader.

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Boppy. The opinions and text are all mine.

Comment below telling us which color you’d pick if you win the Boppy® Best Latch™ Breastfeeding Pillow. We’ll select a random winner on Friday, September 30th. Good luck!

I loved this ABC print from minted.  It was perfect for the shower and matches her baby nursery for later!

Baby Shower Details

I used blank table number cards for guests to write words of encouragement for labor/delivery and motherhood.  They are thick and can easily lean against something or hang sturdily on a banner.

Baby Shower Details

The favorite for the night was polaroids with the mom-to-be.  Each guest had their picture taken and clothes-pinned to a thank you tag for them to take home as favors.  Even the most camera-shy were willing to pose for a real polaroid!

Still can’t get over how much I love this tassel banner!

Minted also makes matching fabric for things like table runners, pillows and anything else you might need for party decor!  I created a baby blanket for her nursery that doubled as a throw for the party.  I still can’t get over how well it matched the invites!  I had some fabric left over after the blanket that worked out as a table runner on the food table.  The fabric is no fray and didn’t need to be hemmed (huge bonus!)

Baby Shower Details

The shower was easy-going and open house style.  We took polaroids as guests arrived, snacked on treats, talked motherhood, opened presents and enjoyed the beautiful spring weather.

6 Tips for Easy Baby Shower Treats

Easy Baby Shower Balloon Decorations

This is the first post of our May Showers!  If you’re looking for some fun baby shower ideas, this is the perfect place to start in the series (more to come!) I thought I’d give a little sneak peek of some of the shower decor-my goal was keeping things easy, affordable and fun!

I’ve always loved balloons and creating a balloon backdrop and some fun balloon accents seemed necessary.  I could not get over the idea of confetti filled balloons after seeing this amazing shiny gold confetti.  Buying my own Balloon Time tank was so.much.easier than trying to take everything to the store and have them do it there-and much more cost effective too!

Balloon Baby Shower

My shopping list:

Balloon Baby Shower

First, I put all of the confetti into the balloon.

Second, I wrapped the balloon neck around the tank nozzle and easily filled the balloon using my balloon time tank.

A weighted, confetti filled balloon, the perfect accent to our entry table.

Balloon Baby Shower

Besides the confetti balloons, I did this fun backdrop for polaroid party favors.  It was a huge hit and SO EASY to put together!  These gold balloons have the perfect size neck for the balloon time nozzle, making it very easy to inflate them.  I love that you can control how quickly you fill them-you want to fill these slowly so the helium has time to get through the small chambers to inflate the entire letter.  I can’t imagine if I hadn’t been able to inflate these at home-they are BIG and would not have fit in my car!

Stay tuned for more from this beautiful shower!

Bottle Feeding a “From the Tap” Baby

My son is three months old, and he’s our third baby. I’ve had friends that have had to perform a Consumer Reports style focus group on a variety of nipples to convince their babies that they do in fact love to drink out of bottles. And then I’ve had friends who have had babies who won’t take a bottle at all.

My first two slugged bottles down, in fact, they even seemed to prefer it. So imagine my surprise when this guy proved himself to be a directly from the tap sort of kid…

Chicco

It’s true. These nipple unicorns do exist.

So when Chicco asked me and my unicorn here to give the Chicco NaturalFit® newborn bottle a try, I jumped at the opportunity. While I love his intentions of saving me sterilizing time by only drinking from the tap, he’s my third baby and the tap is not always available or at home. When I saw that the Chicco NaturalFit® bottle was specifically designed for an easy transition between breast and bottle, I thought we might just be able to convince this unicorn that we had a winner.

We gave it a try. And low and behold, it’s true, we do have a winner.

FullSizeRender-17 copy

The breast-like bottle is designed for comfort feeding for him and comfort for me as well. He also latched right on and avoided some of the occasional gulpy eating sounds that he at times experiences while chugging directly out of the carton. With a variety of NaturalFit® nipples available for the future, he’ll have the right size for each stage of his development.

FullSizeRender-17

And the best news is that unlike a unicorn, they are not hard to find. NaturalFit® bottles are available in three sizes for a suggested retail price of $8.99 each at Babies”R”Us, buybuy BABY, ChiccoShop.com as well as other online shops.

Chicco generously provided my unicorn and I with the NaturalFit® bottles to review. However, our opinions are all our own, and trust me, he’s very honest about his opinions.

Chicco is giving you a chance to win a Chicco NaturalFit® prize package stocked with over $200 in Chicco feeding gear and supplies. To enter to win follow the steps below:
