Easy Grinch Rice Krispies Treats

These simple to make Grinch Rice Krispies Treats are so fun to make and look super cute on a party table! I just hosted my annual Grinch Party and whipped these up in a flash. I haven’t written about my Grinch party yet, but I thought I would share this easy dessert idea because these Grinch Rice Krispies Treats are perfect to make last-minute. Grinch Christmas party recipes are always one of my favorite things to make during the holidays.

I did share a few photos of my Grinch Party on Instagram. You can see them on my featured Instagram Story right now. One of the most talked about desserts, besides my Grinch Cake, were these Grinch Rice Krispies Treats.

I’m not kidding when I say they are about the easiest things to make! I hope you enjoy this quick and fun dessert idea.

How to Make Grinch Rice Krispies Treats

When hosting a party, I try to make desserts as quick as possible. That’s why I bought a big sheet of Rice Krispies pre-made. You can get one here. It makes these Grinch treats fast to make with less bowls to wash.

Grinch Rice Krispies Treats

After slicing the Rice Krispies sheet, add red and green paper straws for the pop handles and place on a baking sheet covered in wax paper.

Add a package of white chocolate chips into a glass bowl and microwave for 40 seconds and stir. Then 30 seconds at a time until completely melted.

Mix in 10-20 drops of neon green food coloring until you get the perfect Grinch color.

Dip the Rice Krispies pop into the melted white chocolate and use a knife to spread around evenly.

Garnish with a candy heart jumbo sprinkle and place back on the baking tray to dry.

I covered a serving tray with a large sheet of lime green and white wrapping paper to make my Grinch Rice Krispies Treats pop.

Cute Christmas Tree Braid for Girls

This Christmas tree braid turned out so cute!  I love being creative and thought I would challenge myself to doing something extra cute with my daughter’s hair for Christmas. She actually let me play around with her hair until I came up with this fun and simple Christmas Tree Hairstyle!

If you have a little girl and not so good with hair like me, then this Christmas tree braid hairstyle is for you! It’s really easy and looks cute even if you don’t decorate the tree. Just follow my directions and I’m sure you can do it!

We love making cute crafts for girl’s hair, but this is the first time I’ve actually tried a braid. If I can do it, you can too!

How to Make a Christmas Tree Braid

With only a few embellishments you’ll have an adorable Christmas themed hair braid! The girls will love it. I hope you enjoy this fun idea.

What you’ll need:

  • 11 Small Rubber Bands (green is fun!)
  • 1 Larger Hair Band (brown looks like the tree trunk)
  • Gift Bow or Star Hair Clip
  • Bobby Pin
  • Hot Glue
  • Ribbon & Tiny Ornaments for Decoration (optional)

Get all supplies ready along with a hair comb. Glue a bobby pin to the back of a gift bow for the Christmas Tree star.

Christmas Tree Braid Tutorial. Easy Hairstyle for Girls! LivingLocurto.com

First you want to pull half of the hair back and secure into a pony tail with a small band.

Split the half pony tail hair into two sections. Braid each section and secure each end with a small rubber band.

Here is the trickiest part that I wish I had on video for you. Really, it’s very easy though. What you want to do is form a Christmas tree shape with the two braids.

Pull one braid to the right side of the head and gather a small bit of hair about an inch down and to the right. Secure the braid to the loose hair with a small band. Let the loose hair fall back into place under the braid.

Do this three to four more times depending on the length of the hair.

Christmas Tree Braid Tutorial. Easy Hairstyle for Girls! LivingLocurto.com

Repeat on the left side. My daughter’s hair did much better on this side. I’m not sure why, but it looked so much cleaner.

Make sure the two bottom bands on each braid line up. Then bring the two braids together to form the tree shape.

Christmas Tree Braid Tutorial. Easy Hairstyle for Girls! LivingLocurto.com

I removed the small bands, then used a larger brown band to attach the two braids together with a section of loose hair going down the middle of the head.

This took some maneuvering to get the shape just right. Once the hair is secured and the braids are shaped to look like a tree, add the bow to the top of the Christmas Tree.

Decorate Your Christmas Tree Braid

I really LOVED the simple shape of the Christmas Tree braid. You could absolutely leave it like this for an adorable hairstyle.

Since we had time to play, I decided to go ahead and decorate the tree just for fun! I found some floral stems in my Christmas decorations that had small glitter berries and thought they would make good mini ornaments.

Christmas Tree Braid Tutorial. Easy Hairstyle for Girls! LivingLocurto.com

After attaching strips of ribbon to the rubber bands, I stuck some of the plastic berries inside the braid. They stayed put just like a bobby pin.

What a fun and easy Christmas hairstyle right?!?

Table Decorating Challenges

One decorating challenge for these Christmas place settings was to incorporate flowers. Did you know that having fresh flowers in your home actually reduces stress? I’m definitely ordering flowers during the holidays, because I need all the help I can get with our busy schedules. ha! Another decorating challenge was to use fruit for table decorations. Either in a centerpiece, place card holder or as general place setting decor. Since red and navy was my choice of color scheme, we used bright red apples, pears and blueberries throughout our different tablescapes.

2. Hot Butterbeer

I have written several articles about Butterbeer, sharing homemade recipes and where to find the shortest line for it at the park, so I thought I knew it all when it came to Butterbeer. NOT THE CASE… I just discovered you can get Hot Butterbeer during the holiday season! Another great reason to visit the park during Christmas.

Where you can find Hot Butterbeer

Hot Butterbeer is only available during the winter months at:

  • The Three Broomsticks in Hogsmeade
  • The Leaky Cauldron in Diagon Alley

3. Christmas Magic at Hogwarts Castle

After you get your Hot Butterbeer, head over to the Hogwarts Castle to watch the holiday light show. Be ready for big crowds and don’t worry if you miss a show, they happen every 20 minutes starting at 6pm. It’s an amazing show that ends with fireworks. A must see for Harry Potter fans!

Best place to watch the Hogwarts Holiday light show.

If you want the best spot, go to the bridge that connects Jurassic Park to Hogsmeade. Of course being right in front of the castle is great, but beware of huge crowds.

Best spot to watch the show with very little crowds.

We tried to get to the bridge, but areas of the park were blocked off to form lines and we couldn’t get through. Instead, we sat on the patio of the Three Broomsticks to enjoy our drinks and the show without the crowds.

Ride Tip: There was no wait time to ride the train from Hogsmeade to London because everyone was trying to get to the castle to watch the light show. After the first show, we walked right on the train!

4. Universal’s Holiday Parade

I think our favorite part of this trip were the fun times we had interacting with the characters throughout the park. That’s one thing I love about Universal Orlando! You might be walking through the park and Spiderman drives by on his motorcycle, Betty Boop says hello in her store or you get to meet a live baby dinosaur. They sure make it so much fun!

Easy to Make a Christmas Tree Donut Wall

I’m a HUGE fan of donut walls for a party, but they always look so complicated to make. But since I really wanted one for my annual Grinch Party, I brainstormed a way to make an easy donut wall that was of course green and could be made with simple to find materials from a craft store. From that brainstorming came our  newest holiday party creation…. the Christmas Tree Donut Wall!

Seriously, how cute is this donut wall? It would be great for any holiday party because it’s small enough to take in the car and set up wherever you want!

Both kids and adults will go crazy over it! I’m sure my daughter will want to make one for her cheer team this year. What’s great is, this craft is even simple enough for kids to make!

Make this easy Christmas Tree Donut Wall for:

  • your family on Christmas morning
  • a teacher appreciation breakfast
  • a Christmas party instead of your usual dessert

What you’ll need for a Christmas Tree Donut Wall:

  • 1 White Foam Board (20″ x 30″)
  • 4” Lollipop Sticks (You will need 8 sticks cut in half)
  • Yellow Scrapbook Paper
  • Red Scrapbook Paper
  • Pencil
  • Ruler or Measuring Tape
  • 15 Green Glazed Donuts

Step 1

Turn the foam board vertically and measure to find the center. The board will stand up tall when completed.

Step 2

Measure roughly 7” down from the center of the top of the board. This is where the top of the first donut will be placed.

Step 3

Begin arranging the donuts in a “Christmas tree” shape on top of the foam board. Start with one donut in the top row, two in the second row, etc, until you end with five donuts in the bottom row.

Step 4

Using a pencil, mark a spot inside the donuts’ holes right at the very top to mark where you will place the sticks from which they will hang. Remember, DO NOT put the mark in the middle, it must be at the top of the hole where the donut will rest on the stick.

Step 5

Cut each 4” lollipop stick in half and press firmly into the foam board on top of each of your marked spots. The sticks should stay put inside the board, but if you want to insure they don’t fall out, you can hot glue them to the board. If you plan to use this donut wall only one time, I wouldn’t bother with glue! Skipping that step will save yourself some time.

Step 6

Cut a star from yellow scrapbook paper and then hot glue it to the board directly above the top donut.

Step 7

Cut a 3”x3” square from red scrapbook paper and hot glue it to the board in the center of the bottom row of donuts.

Step 8

Add all of your donuts to form a Christmas Tree. The end result is so adorable!!!

What You’ll Need for The Perfect Holiday Punch

First, you’ll want a large punch bowl to give this holiday punch the oohs and ahhs it deserves. A large pitcher will work fine, but I say go old school with a big ol’ punch bowl. Natalie, one of our talented party contributors, shot these photos and I LOVE her pretty punch bowl. You can find some gorgeous punch bowls similar on Amazon here and here.

Holiday Punch is Better with Fresh Fruit

A simple holiday punch must have beautiful fruit as garnish that makes people want to dive right into it. Adding slices of oranges, limes and fresh cranberries to this punch makes it a sure winner for your party! You can also get creative and cut your fruit into holiday shapes. My mom always used star cookie cutters for her holiday punch!
