Easy Boots Banana Freakshake Recipe
I was so excited when I first saw the trailer for Dora and the Lost City of Gold! If you’re like me and watched hundreds of episodes of the cartoon version with your kids, you might be excited for this live-action adventure too. It’s so fun that Dora, Diego and Boots are back! This new film in theaters August 9, will most definitely bring back memories.
To get you in the “swing” of things, I created the ultimate ice cream shake inspired by Dora’s best monkey friend, Boots. This easy Boots Banana Freakshake is filled with banana ice cream, gooey hot fudge, chocolate sprinkles, brownies, whipped cream and more! It’s delicioso!
What is the Dora movie about?
Having spent most of her life exploring the jungle with her parents, nothing could prepare Dora (Isabela Moner) for her most dangerous adventure ever – High School.
Always the explorer, Dora quickly finds herself leading Boots (her best friend, a monkey), Diego (Jeffrey Wahlberg), a mysterious jungle inhabitant (Eugenio Derbez), and a rag tag group of teens on a live-action adventure to save her parents (Eva Longoria, Michael Peña) and solve the impossible mystery behind a lost city of gold.
What is a Freakshake?
A freakshake is basically a mega huge milkshake combining ice cream with candy, then stacking the top of the cup with high calorie desserts such as brownies, candy bars, cotton candy and often entire slices of cake. It’s said the freakshake trend started in Australia, but now basically everywhere! If you can eat the whole thing, you’re a dessert loving rock star! ha!
Freakshake with Dora and the Lost City of Gold Printables
Make the most of summer by making my easy and super delicioso Boots Banana Freakshake! A simple to make banana ice cream, with hot fudge, chocolate drizzled bananas, whipped cream and more! This fun recipe also comes with the free printables you need to create your Dora and the Lost City of Gold milkshake.
This crazy shake will bring out your adventurous side. Not only is it exciting to make, but would be perfect desserts for a Dora themed birthday party. Make a big batch of banana milkshakes, fill small mason jars and let the kids stack the desserts they want on the lid. Better yet, put the slice of cake on top of the glass!

Step 5: Put brownies, rice krisipies treats or desired candy onto a wooden skewer. Set aside.

Greek yogurt confetti rainbow treats with sweet popsicle candy toppers. A simple popsicle party recipe made with the Wilton DIY-Lish Lollipop Candy-Making Kit.

Rainbow Yogurt Popsicle Party Treats
I’m excited to share some adorable new Rainbow Confetti Popsicle Party Treats that I made with the new Wilton DIY-Lish Lollipop Candy-Making Kit. Whether you’re hosting a birthday party or looking for something fun to do with kids this summer, this no-bake recipe is the cutest sweet treat!
Chill out this summer and balance a homemade popsicle lollipop with healthy Greek yogurt topped with rainbow sprinkles. This simple recipe looks adorable on a popsicle party table and since there’s no baking required, it’s also fun for kids to whip up on their own.
Popsicle Lollipop Kit
Popsicles are the cutest, so when I heard that Wilton made a Lollipop Candy-Making Kit that looks like popsicles, we had to try it! This fun kit includes a popsicle-shaped mold, Candy Melts candy, rainbow sprinkles and all the tools you need to melt, mold and decorate.
Lollipop Candy Kit Includes:
- pink, orange and yellow Candy Melts candies
- rainbow jimmies
- 12 lollipop sticks
- three decorating bags
- plastic mold
- project card with step-by-step instructions
Easy Popsicle Lollipops
You really can’t mess these cute lollipops up! The Wilton kit includes enough items to make 12 lollipops. I think ours turned out really cute.
This food craft took us about 30 minutes total. The melted candy dries fast, so popsicles are done quickly. This is a great kit to help bring out the creative side in you!
Greek Yogurt Confetti Treats
There’s nothing more fun than rainbow sprinkles! I used the leftover rainbow jimmies from the kit as a topping for the Greek yogurt. I thought about making ice cream sundaes, but Greek yogurt has such great health benefits and less sugar, so I choose to go the healthier route instead.
What is the difference Greek yogurt and regular yogurt?
Greek yogurt is made by straining out the extra whey in regular yogurt. It makes the yogurt thicker, creamier and tangier. Plain Greek yogurt has less sugar and more protein than regular yogurt as well.
Just place the popsicle lollipop candy into the yogurt and kids will want to dive into these yogurt bowls!
Wilton Candy and Cupcake Decorating Kits
Besides the DIY-Lish Lollipop Candy-Making Kit, Wilton has several other cute party food kits to choose from!
Gummy Cupcake Decorating Kit Make, color and mold your own gummy candy to use as a cupcake decoration. Kit comes with shaped molds, 24 printed baking cups, 4 oz. of white gummy mix, red and blue food colorings and rainbow jimmies.
Merrmaid Cupcake Decorating Kit Make a splash with the mermaid cupcake decorating kit. This kit includes everything needed to decorate 12 cupcakes, including Candy Melts candy, a mermaid tail-shaped candy mold, 24 printed baking cups, four 12-inch decorating bags, two plastic decorating tips, mixed Sugar Pearls and mini icing decorations.
Cute Critters Decorating Kit Turn friendly, furry faces into edible treats. Start with your favorite baked treat and icing, then follow the recipe card to roll and cut fondant into cute critters. Kit includes black, white and brown fondant, two tin steel cookie cutters and a fondant roller.

Easy Red Velvet Cookies from a Cake Mix

What is Red Velvet Cake?
Is it chocolate or vanilla? This staple of the south recipe is made from rich cocoa-flavored cake with a reddish color. It’s typically prepared as a layer cake with buttercream or cream cheese frosting. So why I wanted to layer my cookies.
Easy Cake Mix Cookies
Since I’m a little obsessed with making cake mix cookies, adding red velvet cake to my list of cookie recipes was a no brainer. Instead of making the cake from scratch, I preferred to made it quickly with a boxed cake. The flavor is still bursting with flavor and makes super fluffy cookies.

How to make Red Velvet Stacked Cookie Cakes
I turned my cookies into cute stacked cookie cakes. You can make regular cookies with this recipe, or stack them. Depends on how much time you have. Stacking them makes for less cookies per person, so these stacked cookie cakes are good for a small group.
What You’ll Need:
- Red Velvet Cake Mix Cookies (print the recipe below)
- Cream Cheese Frosting
- Chocolate Bark (optional)
You can make the cookies and frosting from scratch, or buy ready-made cookies and frosting from your grocery store. Either way, these make a big impression for something so simple!
All you need to do is stack three cookies with icing in between each one.
I added some dark chocolate bark to the top of mine. You could use any kind of chocolate or sprinkle chocolate shavings over the top.
Print the recipe below if you want to make these from scratch. They are so good!

Just Like Mom’s Pineapple Upside Down Cake
When I was growing up, every week my mother would make some kind of amazing cake. We would come home from school, my dad from work and we would have dinner and dessert as a family. I remember it all so clear and each time I do, I smile.
While mom made a host of different cakes, one of our favorite cake recipes that she made definitely stands out to me the most… her pineapple upside down cake! I can still see Mom pulling out her huge rectangular baking pan, covering a piece of cardboard in aluminum foil and turning that cake upside down. It was amazing.
How to make a classic Pineapple cake From Scratch
I had not eaten a pineapple cake in years, but when I made this fun version of mom’s recipe with ice cream for summer, it brought back so many wonderful memories.
As you can see, I added vanilla ice cream, which is a simple twist to create a Pineapple Upside Down Ice Cream Cake! I’m a firm believer that nothing makes cake better than a nice scoop of ice cream! Something about the butteriness of the cake, paired with ice cream makes it so much more delicious.
With this recipe, we combine ice cream as a layer with the cake. What better way to enjoy a childhood memory!

Pineapple Upside Down Cake Ingredients
First of all, you’ll need two 9″ spring form cake pans to make this cake.
- 2 1/4 cups of all purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups of sugar
- 1 tsp of salt
- 3 tsp of baking powder
- 3 eggs
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 1/4 cup of Pineapple Juice
- 1/8 cup of vegetable oil
- 1 stick of butter (softened)
- 1 Stick of butter melted
- 1 cup of brown sugar
- Pineapple slices or crushed pineapple
- Maraschino Cherries
Vanilla Ice Cream
Easy Pineapple Upside Down Cake Recipe
For the pineapple cake, mix all dry ingredients and then add in your wet ingredients. Mix well.
In one 9 inch pan spring form pan, spread brown sugar evenly to coat the bottom of the pan. Pour your melted butter over it.
Top with pineapple slices and then the cherries.
Pour the cake cake batter over the top. Bake at 350 degrees for about 20 minutes or until top springs back at the touch. You can also stick in a toothpick to check if it is ready. If it comes out clean, it is done!
Allow the cake to cool inside the spring form pan and spray another cake pan with nonstick spray. Pour in your remaining batter and bake until done. Allow both layers to cool completely.
With a cup full of warm water, place your spatula in the warm water. Let your ice cream sit until it is slightly softened. Begin spreading ice cream on your pineapple/cherry layer of cake while in the spring form pan. The spring form pan will help the ice cream stay in place.
How long should I freeze this cake?
Freeze until the ice cream is firm about 15-30 minutes per layer.
Start with the first layer, then remove from freezer and top with the second layer of cake and freeze until ready to serve. After placing all the layers, allow Pineapple Upside Down Ice Cream Cake to completely freeze before slicing and serving.
How to Get Pineapple Upside Down Cake Out of the Pan
Place your cake stand upside down on top of your spring form pan, flip it over, remove the spring form and voila! Since this cake is frozen, dip a knife in warm water to make slicing easier.

But Auradon’s biggest threat is still at large… Trapped on the other side of the barrier, Uma is more desperate than ever to get her long-awaited revenge against Mal. When she discovers an underground lair belonging to Hades, god of the underworld, Uma realizes she’s found the perfect partner in crime. Together, they can defeat Mal, bring down the barrier, and escape the Isle for good. Mal and Uma have a score to settle, and they’ll come face to face in an explosive underwater battle that could determine the fates of Auradon and the Isle of the Lost once and for all.

Easy to make individual Crawfish Boil Cakes no-bake recipe! Simple crawfish boil party ideas. Cute dessert food ideas for kids.
Cute Crawfish Boil Cakes
I had a ton of fun at a Crawfish Boil party this weekend! As you can see, I also had fun making cute crawfish cakes too!
If you’re not from the south, or have friends from Louisiana, then you have probably never been to a crawfish boil. Let me tell you, it’s so much fun when the host dumps a giant pot of steaming hot and spicy crawfish, potatoes and corn onto a long table covered with paper. Then it’s every man, woman and child for themselves!!
This was my husband’s first boil. It was obvious when he got his leg hair singed off after walking by the cooking pots! Luckily he just lost leg hair and not skin. Then I had to giggle when he was surprised that people ate off of the table. Once someone showed him how to get the meat out of the tail, he really liked it and jumped right into the fun. My kids, not so much! ha!
I kept hearing screams from kids who were playing with the live ones and getting pinched. Who knew a crawfish boil was so dangerous?
Cute Dessert Idea
Then someone suggested cute crab cupcakes made with red icing and candy eyeballs. Those cupcakes inspired me to make these funny crawfish cakes!
How to Make Crawfish Boil Cakes
Since crawfish are more long than round, a cupcake wouldn’t work. I was going to bake brownies and cut them into rectangles. Then I lost track of time and realized I only had about an hour before the party began and I had not even gone food shopping yet! No time to bake anything. So I went to the store in search of ready-made brownies or a cake I could cut up.
Pre-made lady fingers were on sale, so I bought a few packages and figured I could make a crawfish with them. I had no idea if they would work or not. In about 20 minutes I had a huge platter full of funny crawfish cakes! They turned out so cute… everyone loved them!
These cute cakes are a fast and easy party dessert for a crawfish boil!
What you will need:
- 2 packages of ladyfingers or you could bake brownies or a cake from scratch and cut into rectangles.
- Candy Eyeballs
- Red Cake Frosting
How to make crawfish cakes:
- Cut Twizzlers to look like pinching claws. Mine were about 2″ long, I cut into one end and trimmed the edges at an angle.
- Put some icing on a lady finger and stick the licorice into the frosting. Add more icing on top of the licorice and cake.
- Add another lady finger on top of the frosting to make a sandwich.
- Add more frosting to the top and attach two candy eyeballs.
That’s it and so easy!! I hope you have fun making these crawfish cakes.
