The LEGO NINJAGO Giveaway!

This post is in partnership with Warner Bros. Pictures.

Our household is in FULL LEGO NINJAGO mode. Don’t believe me?

Actual photo of my dresser this morning. This isn’t even all of them! Garmadon is around here somewhere…

Oh. Found him.

Chillin on the piano where my son stashed him before he left for the bus stop this morning.

The point is that The LEGO NINJAGO movie left a BIG impression on my kiddos. They’ve already decided that the next dog we adopt will be named Lloyd. Pronounced “LA-LOYD.” And I’m good with that.

Because I’m probably the biggest LEGO NINJAGO movie fan in this house right now.

My love of LEGO runs deep. My kids play with my old school sets that have been lovingly sequestered at my parent’s house. And any film that entices two very active kiddos to plop down and play at the Lego table for hours on end is a big win in my book. But that’s not where the magic of The LEGO NINJAGO movie ends…

You see the messages in this movie are particularly important for kids and families.

Early on in the film, a discouraged young boy is encouraged to “Change your point of view” by the wise Ninja Master.

Some of the themes from the movie read straight from the life lessons wish list of every parent everywhere for their kids:

  1. Solve a problem by using a different perspective.
  2. Observe, empathize, and become a better leader.
  3. Practice, practice, PRACTICE.

I think I may have just talked myself into seeing this movie AGAIN…

If you haven’t seen it yet, WHAT ON EARTH ARE YOU WAITING FOR?! Get your tickets now!

I mean, Jackie Chan actually choreographed the fight scenes. YES. Real people modeled the fights for Lego animators. So that’s pretty dang cool.

Still on the fence? How about I sweeten the deal. We’re giving you a chance to win a $50 Fandango Gift Card to see the film in theaters with your family, a LEGO NINJAGO Fire Mech set ($69.99) and a LEGO NINJAGO Ice Tank set ($79.99) — awesome, right?!

To enter to win, leave a comment below sharing your kiddo’s favorite LEGO minifig.

Buster Moon Pie Muddy Buddies

This post is in partnership with Universal Pictures Home Entertainment

Friday is movie night at our house. And it’s becoming a production. It starts with takeout—we rotate who gets to pick (because mediating the inevitable disagreement between two kiddos does not make for a happy Mama) and then we pile up on my bed and watch a movie (also picked by the lucky “featured” family member that week.)

My son has already picked out our movie for this week…

When we saw this in theaters it inspired MANY sing-and-dance performances by my children for the following weeks.

I’m expecting their love of this show and the songs to evolve into downright obsession.

This movie was so sweet and so fun and warmed my mom heart so much with its messages—be brave, be yourself, never give up—it’s the trifecta of inspirational stories!

I guess I’m pretty excited for Friday night too.

You can pick up your copy of the Sing Special Edition and giggle through three new mini movies and a bunch of musical extras. For the love of pete, this movie has over 65 songs in it! Plus a new song by Stevie Wonder (featuring Ariana Grande.)

You can also win a copy from us at the end of this post!

Since my kids are so pumped, I’m going to up the ante on our Friday movie night tradition and break out a special snack.

I’m calling them Buster’s Moon Pie Muddy Buddies, in honor of our favorite koala/theater owner/musical visionary, Buster Moon, and my favorite chocolate marshmallow combo.

And since I don’t want my kids to start the movie without me, this snack has to come together quick.

Easy enough!

  • 8 cups Rice Chex cereal
  • 2 cups Golden Grahams cereal
  • 2 cups mini marshmallows
  • 1 ¾ cups chocolate chips
  • ⅔ cup peanut butter
  • ⅓ cup butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 cups powdered sugar

  1. Combine Rice Chex, Golden Grahams cereal, and mini marshmallows in a large bowl and set aside.
  2. In a microwave safe bowl, combine 1 ¼ cups chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter. Microwave for 1 minute and then stir until it is nice and smooth. (Microwave 15-30 seconds longer if needed to get a smooth consistency.)
  3. Stir in vanilla.
  4. Pour mixture over cereal and marshmallows, stirring to coat.
  5. You’ll have to do the next steps in two batches…
  6. Place half of the mixture in a gallon Ziploc bag with 1 cup of powdered sugar.
  7. Toss bag to coat mixture with powdered sugar.
  8. Remove coated muddy buddies from the bag, and repeat steps 6 and 7 with the remaining mixture.
  9. Allow mixture to cool. Or eat immediately with both hands.

The SING Special Edition is Coming to Digital, DVD, and Blu-Ray in March

This post is in partnership with Universal Pictures Home Entertainment

If you and your kids loved watching SING in the theaters, then prepare yourself to get super excited for what I’m about to say. Are you ready? Ok, here goes . . . THE SING SPECIAL EDITION IS COMING OUT ON DIGITAL HD ON MARCH 3rd AND ON BLU-RAY AND DVD ON MARCH 21st!!!!!!!

SING Special Edition Digital, DVD, and Blu-Ray Release

I’m sorry, was I yelling? I’m kind of excited. Did you catch how I said “SING Special Edition?” Yeah, this isn’t just the same thing you saw on the big screen cut comin’ at ya. The special edition of this music-filled comedy will include over 60-minutes of bonus content and will incorporate three (YEAH, I SAID 3!) all-new entertaining mini movies featuring the cast from SING as well as an exclusive Tori Kelly music video and a variety of musical extras. That’s almost enough bonus content to equal a whole new movie in and of itself.

Before I get too carried away, I’ll tell you why we loved SING. I feel like the new trend in animated movies is to make them entertaining for both adults and kids. The Illumination studio made SING. That’s the same studio that brought us The Secret Life of Pets and the Despicable Me franchise. They’ve already proven they have the chops to be popular with kids (uh, seen a Minion anywhere lately?) and they’re quickly becoming a grown up favorite too. This movie was a Golden Globe nominee for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song. You’ll totally recognize ans sing along to the more than 65 hit songs in this movie, and you’ll love ‘Faith,’ a brand new song by the legendary Stevie Wonder (featuring Ariana Grande). He hasn’t made a song for a major film release in 25 years!

Check out this SING Special Edition trailer:

If that doesn’t make you laugh, then you should probably watch it again with your eyes open. I don’t know that I’ve ever seen a movie that has as many A-list actors and artists. SING is truly a wonderful, funny, heartwarming film with great music and a fantastic cast. It stars Academy Award® winner† Matthew McConaughey as Buster Moon, an eternally optimistic koala who puts on the world’s greatest singing competition to save his crumbling theater; Academy Award® winner Reese Witherspoon as Rosita, an overworked and unappreciated mother of 25 piglets desperate to unleash her inner diva; Scarlett Johansson as Ash, a punk rock porcupine with a beautiful voice behind her prickly exterior; Taron Egerton as Johnny, a young gangster gorilla looking to break free of his family’s felonies; as well as Seth MacFarlane, John C. Reilly, and Grammy Award-nominated Tori Kelly.

Basically, SING takes all the best parts of a reality T.V. show—the stories of people uh, I mean, animals down on their luck, the crazy talented ones who don’t have any self-confidence, those trying to live up to their true selves, and those trying to rise above their surroundings—it subtracts the super drama, tears, and rose ceremonies, but leaves in a few crazies and a diva, just to keep things interesting.

We loved SING at our house, and can’t wait for the SING Special Edition to release. It may just be the musical comedy event of the year!

YES! A Despicable Me 3 Movie is COMING!

Despicable Me

YES! He’s back!

I love Gru. LOVE. HIM.

Come on…a villain that gives up the evil life for three little adopted girls?

While giving us the all too relatable kiddo line, “It’s so fluffy, I’m gonna die!”

And just when we didn’t think these characters could get any funnier or sweeter, they bust out Kristen Wiig as Lucy Wilde.

ADMIT IT. You’re as pumped as I am for Despicable Me 3…just BASK in the hilarity of the new stuck-in-the-80’s villain. I die. Check out the trailer below!

The team who brought you Despicable Me and the biggest animated hits of 2013 and 2015, Despicable Me 2 and Minions, returns to continue the adventures of Gru, Lucy, their adorable daughters—Margo, Edith and Agnes—and the Minions.  Despicable Me 3, will be released in theaters on June 30, 2017.

Save The Date: The Secret Life of Pets is Coming Soon!

As a houseful of dog-lovers, few summer blockbusters were as highly anticipated around here as The Secret Life of Pets. And by “highly anticipated” I mean that there was NO WAY my kiddos were going to let me fast-forward through the commercials for that flicke. Ever. Never ever.

So you can be SURE that we’ll be buying the movie when it comes to Blu-ray & DVD on December 6, 2016 from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment (and saving it for under the Christmas tree!) If you’re a Digital HD kinda family, you’ll get a crack at it earlier, on November 22, 2016.

So, if you’re like me and are already working on your holiday gift lists and/or planning your Thanksgiving weekend viewing, you’re going to want to take note of those dates above.

The Blu-Ray and DVD also includes three mini movies that you’re kiddos are sure to love—Norman Television, Weenie, and Mower Minions.

Plus, TONS of bonus features like The Best of Snowball (think rapid-fire, fun and oddly musical mash-up of all the best Snowball one-liners) and the Hot Dog Sing-Along (for the song-lovers in your family, Max and Duke sing for their supper in the sausage factory!) There’s even a section that’s all about pets with Kevin Hart and Eric Stonestreet, with the help of animal trainer Molly Mignon O’Neill where you’ll learn more about your average and not-so average, household pets.
