THIS Is The Only Bracket That Matters This March {And It’s Tearing Us Apart}

Did you know there is a 1 in 9.2 quintillion chance of filling out the perfect bracket?

Well I don’t want to brag—okay, I totally do—but you’re looking at it.

Okay, so the stat is actually about a perfect March Madness bracket, but, if anything, the Disney + Pixar challenge is a million times harder and probably far more damaging to human productivity and relationships. I know my husband got a step or seven closer to sleeping on the couch when we got down to brass tacks over several key matchups.

Take The Little Mermaid vs. The Lion King: Sure, Simba’s got sway in the realm of heart-warming family narrative (maniacal uncle aside), but how do you compete with a movie that has an entire song set to the scene of a twisted French chef chasing a beleaguered crab with a cleaver? I submit that you cannot.

Well, Up tried. Using a powerful lineup of heart-wrenching love story and avian absurdity. But when your competitor can double team you with oh-so-relatable underwater angst and music that you can never forget the words to, you don’t really stand a chance.

And just like that, Little Mermaid unquestionably takes the championship.

But for you crazies who dare to disagree, feel free to fill out your own brackets…just make sure you don’t share the results unless you’re ready to really reevaluate your friendships.

Leslie Jones Olympic Coverage Is Everything We Need Right Now

Look, we are over a week into the PyeongChang Olympics and if you’re not already following Leslie Jones Olympic coverage than you need to GET ON BOARD because it’s halfway over, I care about you, and I don’t want you to miss out on the gem that is Leslie Jones at the Olympics.

If you’ll remember, Leslie literally hyped her way into an invite to the Brazil Summer Olympic. You cannot argue with her level of commitment and passion for the games so it made absolute sense that NBC would recognize and reward that passion and bring her on board for us to reap the rewards.

Leslie is the most HYPE Olympic commentator in existence and her coverage is literally everything we need in America right now.

Be warned, some of these are mos def NSFW…

Fun Ways to Enjoy the Winter Olympics As a Family

By Frannie Ucciferri, Common Sense Media

This year it’s easier than ever for kids and families to follow along with the Winter Olympics, all without traveling to Pyeongchang. Fans can use apps like SnapchatYouTube, and Facebook to skate, ski, sled, and even sweep (you’re welcome, curling buffs) alongside their favorite athletes. The Olympics are also a great way to talk to kids about sportsmanship, perseverance, and teamwork — as well as social media benefits and boundaries. The Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea, begin Feb. 9 with the Opening Ceremony and go until the Closing Ceremony on Feb. 25. There’s a lot going on, so we’ve rounded up some of our favorite digital ways to experience the action and turn the Winter Games into a fun learning experience for the whole family.

The Official Olympics Hubs
A great place to start is with the official Olympics website and app. There you’ll find a mountain of resources, including news, results, Olympic history, and descriptions of all the sports. That way you’ll never be confused about the difference between figure skating and ice dancing again.

Meet the Mascots
Every Olympics, the host nation comes up with a cute animated character to represent the spirit and location of that year’s games. This year, Korea introduced us to Soohorang and Bandabi, an adorable white tiger and Asiatic black bear.

Subscribe to the ShibSibs
Sibling ice-dancing duo Alex and Maia Shibutani are not only national champions, they’re also active vloggers on YouTube. The “ShibSibs,” as they’re known online, give a playful, approachable look behind the scenes of what it’s really like to be an Olympic athlete.

View It in VR
For the first time ever, NBC Olympics is offering more than 50 hours of live Olympics coverage in virtual reality. Although you’ll need a VR headset for the full experience, you can download the app for 360-degree videos on your smartphone or Google Cardboard capabilities.

Up-to-the-Minute Snapchat Updates
NBC Olympics and BuzzFeed have teamed up to offer exclusive clips and coverage of athletes, events, and more as one of the “Publisher Stories” on the Snapchat Discover page. Snapchat will also be offering its usual user-submitted “Our Stories” feature for the Pyeongchang Games on the Discover page, which is made up of curated posts from Snapchatters who are attending the events live, as well as the athletes themselves.

  • Visit Snapchat Discover (reach it by swiping left from the camera screen in the Snapchat app).

Follow the Fashion
If your kids are more into clothes than sports, there are still plenty of ways to engage with the Winter Games. From high-tech heating to sequined costumes to wild curling pants, there’s plenty to talk about — and maybe inspire young designers to get creative.

Listen and Learn
If you love podcasts, we’ve found some great options that will give you answers to questions you didn’t even know you had about the Olympics, such as, “When did snowboarding become a sport?” or “Who are the athletes to watch?” or “What do former figure skaters Tara Lipinski and Johnny Weir talk about when they’re not commentating?” (Learn how to get into podcasts.)

Interact with the Athletes
Many of the athletes competing in the games are active on social media. Following your favorite athletes can be a fun way to get to know them. Make sure to establish rules around social media use. Some of our faves:

Super Bowl Party Ideas

Every year our family throws a big Super Bowl party.  To be honest, I like sports but I’m not much of a sports fan. However, I do like parties! With 4 crazy-hyper kids that need to be included, I spend a lot of time thinking about food, games and fun.  Here are my favorite Super Bowl party ideas to keep the sports-lovers, haters and littles involved and happy during your big Super Bowl party.

Bingo is a MUST! We keep kid and adult prizes for the first one to call out Bingo. This is anything from a special drink, candy, or a dollar-store toy.

SheKnows has put together a fabulous set of Bingo cards. Visit their site HERE then click on each card to print. It’s important to print each card to have variety for the Bingo cards. Print on cardstock to make stronger cards.

Just because the Super Bowl party is where you sit and watch TV doesn’t mean you can’t do anything else. We like to keep things moving for those that get tired of sitting (or the game, wink-wink), as well as the goo-gobs of kids we have running around.

This game is named FACE GOAL!

You’ll need two players and mini stuffed footballs (I’m not opposed to using marshmallows either). Have one player stand about 10 yards away from the other player and give them a bucket of small footballs. The second player will stand with their hands upright in field goal/touchdown position. To play, the first player must hike footballs (like hiking a football) underneath their legs into the the field goal of the other person, without hitting them in the face. The footballs only count if they go through the player’s arms, not above or around them. First team to hike 7 footballs through the field goal wins.

Click here to see more hilarious minute-to-win-it party games.

31 questions of guessing fun! Winner is the person with the most correct answers! Make it a little more fun by asking guests to bring $1 for their card — winner takes the pool!

We make a hard rule in our house that no Super Bowl commercials can be watched BEFORE the game. What’s the fun in that?! This makes commercial bingo even more exciting on game day.

I have done personal veggie and dip cups the past few years and love them. These keep little hands out of the community dunking bowl (let’s be honest–where have their hands been?!).  It also creates less stress for those that just can’t take double-dippers and let’s ranch lovers bask in the joy of their own ranch (add more if you want!)

I love to have something that the kids can help me with. They really like getting involved in all the decorating ahead of time, but I also try to find an easy “thing” they can do while all the adults are mingling. We have loved creating football brownies. These are pretty easy because all you need is a football shaped cookie cutter! Make your brownies ahead of time and cut the shapes out (or let the kids do this part if they can). Buy pre-made frosting in tubes and let the kids decorate as footballs!

A Super Bowl party isn’t a party unless you have team logos and colors everywhere! Sure you could go spend a fortune at the party store, but why when the wizards of the internet have FREE printables all over the place…and they are darling! Check out these awesome printables from Second Chance to Dream.

Lady Gaga Drops Mic On Body Shamers With Perfect Response

My girl Lady Gaga absolutely crushed it at her Superbowl halftime performance this last week, but not without catching some serious flak from a horde of internet body shaming trolls who basically missed the entire point, as usual.

lady gaga twitter trolls

First of all, WHO ARE THESE WRETCHED PEOPLE AND WHAT SMELLY CAVE OF HORRORS DO THEY ALL LIVE IN? Shut the hell up, Twitter. You are the worst.

Let’s get one thing straight, Lady Gaga is an amazeballs performer. Not only did she sing the whole thing while leaping off rooflines, dangling from cables, and doing some pretty intense choreography — she did it alone with no guest appearances, and no one to give her a time out to catch her dang breath. Oh, and she was wearing heels and a pair of rhinestone shorts and then dropped the mic and caught a football mid air.

She wins everything.

Lady Gaga’s response to the body shaming was as on point as her performance:

Lady Gaga Body Shaming Response

“Be you, and be relentlessly you.”

Basically, haters to the left.

It’s apparently a hard and difficult lesson for the underlings of the internet to absorb that women don’t all have to fit into a certain box and that our bodies are not up for approval or dissection in any way. That’s right tweetiots, nobody needs your two cents so get out of your mom’s basement and get a life.

Martha And Snoop Get Unlimited In T Mobile Spot

The love between Martha and Snoop will never stop making me feel like everything’s gonna be okay in the end, so you can see why their Superbowl ad for T Mobile is pretty much one of my favorites of the day.

Give me more Martha and Snoop or give me nothing at all.

Airbnb And Coca-Cola Dip Their Toes Into Politics

Airbnb bought a last minute Superbowl ad spot and used their time to wade into the current political climate and send a reaffirming message called “We Accept”.

From Airbnb:

“We believe in the simple idea that no matter who you are, where you’re from, who you love, or who you worship, you deserve to belong. We know this is an idealistic notion that faces huge obstacles because of something that also seems simple, but isn’t – that not everyone is accepted.”

Not exactly subtle, eh? Read the entire statement HERE.

Coca-Cola decided to resurrect an old ad from the 2014 Superbowl featuring different people singing a multilingual version of “America The Beautiful” and ending with the tagline “Together Is Beautiful”.

When it originally ran in 2014, Coke caught a lot of flak, and considering the current immigration controversy, I’m sure things will stay heated.

What’s your take?

Are these brands pushing an unfair agenda, or do you support their stance?

The Superbowl Exposes Illuminati Avocados From Mexico

I lolz’d a few times through this ad for Avocados from Mexico featuring a bumbling Illuminati brain trust basically debunking or taking credit for every conspiracy theory on the planet. Big Foot, Area 51 (and 52, 53, 54…), the moon landing, they cover it all while wondering who’s letting out all their secrets, including the secret about Avocados being a healthy fat.

Laugh all you want, but we’ll all be crying about $20 guac if that 20% tax on Mexican imports goes through.
